Well today is thursday and

Well today is thursday and I am still not 100% but feeling much better.
I went to pick up two colleagues at the airport yesterday. Another colleague out here already has a four door car and was picking his fiancee up from the airport anyway but decided he would not be able to fit four people in a car. Makes you wonder how all those poor families with only one car manage to squeeze four and sometime five poeple in.

I felt like pants last

I felt like pants last night :o( was feeling nasty in the office but by 4pm I was ready to die so when we eventually got back to the hotel my ideas of gym swim and dinner faded into sleep…. I felt much better this morning after all of the sleep though. I think it was just my body reminding me it needs rest every now and then.

okay well all the scary

okay well all the scary people have left the hotel now and it is much quieter. We took a spin in hte car yesterday to go over to Springfield Mall [dave wanted comic books] and then had a huge detour on the way back as the I95 southbound had a major crash and traffic was piled up. We got to see a lot of the Virginia countryside though – and realised it is not all like reston – a lot of it is but not all!
Sat in the hotel bar for a while last night and drank way too much again. Absolut Mandarin and Cointreau amongst the shots we had and Dave and I had to order food to the bar in an attempt to sober up.
Went into the office this morning and got Dave sorted out with a security badge and met up with some of the AOL staff here – also took him to the AOL shop – you know the kind of thing AOL Time Warner branded goods. I erm must admit to having bought Jack a little AOL jacket in case it rains – dogs you know are really not waterproof and need little rain macs – I may even have to take a pic and send it over to ickle.org.

well last night [thursday] the

well last night [thursday] the taxi I had booked through work arrived at 8 to take me to the airport – the only flaw here being that my flight wasn’t until friday morning. So erm 12 hours early then. Luckily a cab turned up this morning too – I had visions of them not bothering to send one at all after the mess up the night before.
picked dave up from his in battersea and then on to the airport. It being comic relief the Virgin Atlantic staff were all kitted out in tee shirts and pants [the theme being say pants to poverty] and of course the obligatory man in womens clothing. He looked cute too – Gavin was his name – so if perchance you are reading this Gav – great legs 😉
The nice lady took a look at Dave and gave us seats by the exit so that he had extra leg room – me being a short arse it never really bothers me but I must admit it was fantastic to have nothing for about 3 feet – maybe more – in front of me.
I thought whilst on the plane that I have actually spent more time out of the country than in it in the last month or so and by the end of this trip I will have spent more time in the US than london over the last 2 months. Another day another flight!
This was my first flight with Virgin in Premium Economy and I must say I was impressed the service was excellent and our hostess was brilliant.

When Dave and I arrived in Dulles we managed to get on the wrong courtesy bus [my fault I usually hire with hertz and work had booked avis] so he was not exactly inspired with confidence! Got to the hotel with no problems and checked in to what is going to be my new home for the next 2 weeks – unless i switch to a hotel in DC at the weekend. The Hyatt in Reston is actually a nice hotel – just it’s in the middle of nowhere.

So we settled in and then went on the wander around Reston as it is Dave’s first trip out here. It doesn’t take long. Outside Barnes & Noble though we got asked to buy Girl Scout cookies – now I know you always see this in the movies but to come accross two girls [plus mum keeping tabs on the cask and stock] selling Girl Scout cookies – well I was in fits. We both bought some though after the initial shock had worn off! I got a box of Tagalongs which look nice :o)
Had a really nice meal in the market street bar and grill which is the hotel restaurant. and then went wandering to buy books and stuff. trying to stay awake until around 11pm here so I do not wake up hideously early. I’m sure my body is going to give up on the time zone thing shortly anyway. A different time zone each week for the past 4 weeks :o(

dave at work just sent

dave at work just sent me an im with this little snippet
And if intelligent stories, witty dialogue and out-of-this-world production values aren’t enough to entice the uninitiated into Farscape’s orbit, the show has one last trick up its sleeve. “We’ve got alien sex going on,” Browder says, perfectly imitating the sideshow barkers of yore. “It’s hot, it’s sexy… it’s aliens!”

had a really nice conversation

had a really nice conversation with my ex tonight. he has put an offer in on a flat near me in streatham with a garden so that will be nice for Jack. he is going on holiday to thailand next week! I was wondering how he had managed to save enough for the deposit but he is getting a 100% mortgage so that answered that one. I was kind of worried about Jack when I first had him full time as it meant I could not go out as much and certainly could not go anywhere straight from work so missed all the leaving drinks etc. Now I have gotten used to it and am worried about him living with Nige more of the time – fickle us dog owners you know never can make our minds up what we want – oh and jack has an ear infection too to add to his woes this week – poor ickle mite.
