Around the World in 83 Days – Plane Movies – Spotlight

Another film I wish I’d seen in the cinema instead of on a plane. It was amazingly powerful and deeply distrubing. Based on the true events of the 2002 investigation by the Globe.

Under the direction of new editor looking to make a name for himself, the Boston Globe’s elite investigative team, known as Spotlight, is tasked with validating child-abuse claims against the Catholic Church. The team of journalists begin to uncover a massive scandal involving sexual abuse and the willful ignorance perpetrated by the Church in Boston at a scale even they coudln’t comprehend. Facing political opposition and resistance brought about by the powerful influence of the Church, the reporters put together a story exposing the corruption over decades hidden by the Catholic Church.

Around the World in 83 Days – Plane Movies – I.T.

Wow. Well that was a tense movie Certainly made the plane trip zip by. I have to say the movie choices on AA are better than the BA transatlantic ones. I’m unsure why they had to rip out the equipment from the walls though rather than just say powering them down or disconnecting them from the interwebnet. Also Pierce Brosnan. Ugh.
