my restaurant rules

While I was in Sydney (yes I know I have mentioned the trip a few times) they had a dodgy reality TV show called My Restaurant Rules. Now Sam & Catherine were perhaps the most annoying couple. They kept whining on about wanting to learn Italian etc etc and nothing really about the restaurant. The location was perfect, so it couldn’t possibly fail. Practically opposite The Colombian and next to Wagamama. Shame then that it’s the first one to close 😉

train trauma

Today I was a tad late due to train trauma. Who said London had the best transport network in the world…
I usually get the train (with lots of colleagues) from Clapham Junction to Kensington Olympia at 09:08 but as the previous train (08:38) had been cancelled it was packed to capacity with people in with the driver ten minutes before it was scheduled to leave. So a few of us from work waited for the 09:25 sadly this though was cancelled. So the next train was due to leave at 09:38 and guess what… it was cancelled too!
Then the 10:03 was delayed so I was a late. Grrrrr
I did get to have a coffee and croissant and a long chat with some people from work I don’t see enough of though. So that was nice.

lion king

The first two minutes of The Lion King took my breath away. As soon as you realise you need to look all around the theatre, above you and behind you to take in the full effect it overwhelms the senses.

I was always going to like the score. I like my beat music. Safri Duo are one of my favourite bands. So the fact that the percussion and drums were above us on both sides in what were once boxes was amazing.

The costumes and masks that are really hats are great. Scar’s was cantilevered, so that it swang forward menacingly. The other animals are brilliant too with wheels, masks, extensions to body parts and traditional costumes all pulling together to make a great effect.

I hadn’t seen the movie so didn’t know the story but quickly realised it was a kids musical. Shame then that the prices were so steep. Tickets not discounted for kids and extortionate pricing of drinks and snacks spoiled what was otherwise a magical evening.

Hubba Hubba

Gazza has a new obsession – only he stupidly broadcast it and now has competition. Now I’m not normally one to obsess (oh wait who am I kidding)…

HELLO Steve :o) He stars in Latter Days – and I was trying to get to see it while I was in the US but Northern Virginia being very conservative and all…
There has been much hulabaloo around the film in the US, Utah particularly.
Looking forward to the DVD release so that we can use the freeze frame :o)

meme of 2004?

Mark told me to:

Grab the nearest book.

Open the book to page 23.

Find the fifth sentence.

Post the text of the sentence in your journal/blog along with these instructions.

And because I obviously do whatever anyone tells me to do, you?re reading this post. Mark also pointed me in the direction of A9 so you should be able to doa quick search and find the book I had to hand:

In point of fact, as he told Kester the next day over sandwiches by the river, Alan Harkness was also facing hunger of the more everyday kind.

What you got? Not what A9 think it is anyways ;o)
