Not a very eventful weekend

Not a very eventful weekend but I did go up the millenium wheel which was really good. It’s amazing what you do when visiting a foreign city but when you live in London these things usually take a back seat. I highly recommend it – although BA referring to it as a flight was slightly annoying 😉
I followed this with a trip around west end bars. Andrew and I wandered from bar [with loud music] to bar [with loud music] not settling on a place which suited us. 8.30pm on a sunday and allt he bars were quiet or stupidly loud and quiet. The best of the bunch being Rupert Street [and those of you who know me will probably faint]. We even gave up on Barcode which was just wierd – although the cute man that kept looking at me as I left was nice 😉 So an early night was had instead of a night on the tiles.

what a week end

what a week end – the irish have a reputation for being friendly but I must say that they go far beyond this. I spent the weekend staying with a friend from work at his parents in Malahide [about 10 miles north of Dublin] and they not only put me up [even moving around so I had a room of my own] but also on a weekend they were having a family party and gran coming to stay as she was not well – hospitality was fantastic and lovely people. The flowers I got by way of a thank you seemed small and insignificant.
If anyone is over in Dublin by the way you can do far worse than taking a trip up that way – the beach is lovely and reminded me a lot of home [my parents basically live the opposite side of the Irish Sea].
On Friday night we went to HQ with work colleagues which was nice and then on Saturday went shopping with the girls and were due to visit the Guinness Brewery [davo has a cool perspex thingy with a blob of guinness in it] but we never managed it 🙁 so that is now on my hit list for next time. Allegedly there is a really cool bar too with views over the city but you need to go on the tour [or have a corporate function] to get in there.
Saturday evening we started off in Pravda and then moved to Q bar [a straight version] and then onto Fireworks which was fantastic. I never normally do straight pubs and clubs but had a really good time. Fireworks used to be the fire station and is now a huge 3 floor pub/club venue which would go down well in London – so I highly recommend it.
I also learnt that scally has broken his arm [poor lamb] on Saturday. Go send him a card or something 🙂

I was paid to take

I was paid to take my clothes off in a london nightclub
This one is actually true When I moved to London I worked in Heaven nightclub. It was actually a great laugh. We used to have theme nights and so depending on the theme we would have shows and people wandering around to freak out the acid heads. The white party for instance I was painted from head to toe in white grease paint and wore a tiny [and I do mean tiny] white g-string. On other occasions I was simulating sex on a bed at the entrance and having sex [although we were supposed to be simulating] in a foam pit by the downstairs bar just off the dance floor. Taking my clothes off on stage [and off stage] was just one of my many erm talents at the time.

oh and the weather in

oh and the weather in London today is gorgeous. Really hot and sunny – I did my lunch time run with my top off hoping to get a tan. Certainly did not want to come back into the office. When I did get back in though I was immediately greeted by moans of ‘oh it is way too hot’ and ‘god it is boiling’ All I can say is that it’s a good job we don’t normally have a hot summer or these poor people would melt. Personally I love the weather at the moment and roll on the heatwave!

I have just received this

I have just received this strange missive at work and thought you may be able to help.
“Do you have any friends who
– use IM (product does not matter, can be ICQ, AIM – anything)
– live in London
– are aged 17-30 “

If this is you and you don’t mind giving me your name and phone number [no this isn’t a round about way to bolster my little black book] then send me a email(‘mail’).

the rumours are true there

the rumours are true there is to be a ukgayblogmeet? The press release follows and we are not desperate for new attendees [honest]
“Are you gay [or cute enough to try out for the team], bisexual or bicurious [basically male with a pulse]? Are you a blogger [or thinking of starting one]? Have you slept with a blogger? Do you live in London [or anywhere near by]? If so, come and join us upstairs at Compton’s on Wednesday 30th May from 8pm onwards for London’s 1st Gay Bloggers Meet.”

whilst out for my lunchtime

whilst out for my lunchtime run [yes in the god awful weather we have been having] I had a sudden thought that I should get a walkman with one of those language tapes and learn another language whilst pounding the pavements of London. Kill 2 birds with one stone – get fit and learn french.

lovely sunny day in London

lovely sunny day in London today and so got on the roof and caught some rays. It’s really nice on the roof and not overlooked so did a bit of work on the all over tan :o)
joined spence at sports and shorts at the stag. I went around to his earlier in the day to pick an outfit [not owning any footy gear of my own]. It was a really nice night actually. A little wierd but probably because I felt very out of place wearing football colours. I mean I was not out of place at all there were at least a hundred guys there all in football colours or sportswear I just felt out of place.
Met a nice bunch of people and also Andrew who was very nice [a nurse and doing a degree in computing which seemed an unlikely combination]. He certainly made an impression when he tried to get me to take my tracky bottoms off at the start of the evening. By the time 11.30 came around I had decided to make a move as I was still feeling a little nervy [first time at an event like that really] so started to make a move and lo an behold but so does Andrew [make a move that is] and what a move it was too. Nice snog but way too late in my game. I was all for the extra time but had to run to catch the last train home. So maybe next time eh? I’ll head on over to sas and see if there are any pics of said man and share 😉
Also during the evening was a very scary mud wrestling event which ended in one poor contestant having no shorts left as they had been ripped in half.
Reminded me of the good old days working at the bridge in putney actually, when we had stupid events and an amateur strip night too. I say good old days but you just know I am using rose tinted glasses! Met a couple of the guys from there as well tonight which brought some memories flooding back! So off to bed to dream of what might have happened if I hadn’t bottled it and decided to stay for the extra time.

I’ve had a few days

I’ve had a few days to think now and chatted with my folks. Went on a nice [but short] trip with Andrew driving up north for the first time in a year really was kind of wierd. It was nice when I got up there though. Met up with Keith who I haven’t seen in ages – unfortunately I was not very talkative – sore throat and tired after the drive.
eventually named Andrews yopungest bearded collie – Shadow – since he never leaves your side. So long as he is following someone [doesn’t mind who] he is fine.
The drive down was nice – except for the rip off Burger King prices in the service station – ?4.99 for a meal you can get for ?3.99 anywhere in London. Motorists sure do have a hard time.
Went for dinner last night [after training] around at scally‘s which was nice. We were supposed to be putting up his new Ikea Wardrobes but decided watching a film would be easier. His newly fitted bathroom is lovely. Shame the lounge is now unrecognisable and you can’t see the nice laminate floor we laid in February.
Mad thunderstorm last night too – was kinda cool and scary all at the same time – only scary cos I was walking Jack in it .

okay well i made a

okay well i made a post last night and then decided to move it to my personal journal. It was not really good for public consumption and I figured it would be best. I have had a bit more time to think about what I wanted to say and have thought of some words to express how I am thinking at the moment.
The upshot is that I have been unhappy in London for a while now – I never planned to work in an office, I never planned to work for a corporation and I never planned on being more worried about my salary and expenses than people I care about. Yet this is how I am feeling at the moment – trapped I guess in a world I never wanted to enter anyways.
I did my thesis on eco and rural tourism for god’s sake and here I am working for an ISP doing training. When actually what I want to be doing is hiking in remote parts of the world showing like minded individuals that your 2 weeks vacation needn’t harm the environment and doesn’t have to involve sun sand and 5 star accomodation.
I am not young anymore and if I am going to follow my dreams I need to sort it out fairly soon.
I have quit smoking and alcohol and started to train and get fit in the hopes that it will give me some energy with which to slingshot out of my daily routine. I need to go back to my parents this week end and plan my future see what my options are and come back with a clear and level head. Stop doing what other people expect me to do and actually do somthing for my soul not my wallet.
