Two years ago (or slightly more to be honest) I was chatting to Spencer on that well know ‘dating’ site. We had chatted for a while and not quite got around to meeting up. Eventually we met by accident at Streatham Common train station. He was stood in line in front of me buying a ticket.
Yesterday a very similar thing happened. Miles and I have also been chatting on the same site. We’ve even chatted on the phone. We haven’t managed to arrange to meet yet though. So imagine my suprise when I see someone who looks strangely familiar stood in front of me at Kensington Olympia train station yesterday evening. Imagine my shock when he pulls out his phone and calls me to check he is right and it is me.

Happy Birthday to me :)
Ooh Ooh another year.
So yesterday I was officially 33. I was in need of a quiet affair since the festivities are all planned for next weekend and I’m still not 100% and on antibiotics.
So got up late. Went to the Trafalgar in Tooting for pub lunch with Jacs, Nick and Helen. Went home. Snoozed until late. Went to bed.
Who says I’m past it đŸ˜‰
Also despite requesting no presents I received an excellent gift. The box set of 24 series 1. So I’ll be booking out time to watch that again soon. Hopefully before the new series starts on February 16th.
It was BBC Three‘s Birthday too yesterday. I’ve seen all the adverts heralding the new digital channel from the beeb. So imagine my suprise when I discovered it wasn’t actually a new channel but a rebranding of BBC Choice. Who would have thought?
Gutted
In the states last year with Mark my boss we stopped in the Apple Store in Tysons Corner and oohed and ahhed over the JBL Creature Speakers. Unfortunately I had no luggage space left or I would have bought them there and then.
Friday evening we chatted about them again and I wanted a pair for my iPod so I can listen to music in the soon to be newly refurbished kitchen.
So Apple only had them in silver and I wanted white. It has to match the iPod after all and silver is so last year.
We both ordered them from Jigsaw24.com as they seemed to be the only other UK stockist. Only to discover today that Apple now sell the white ones for less and no delivery charge.
I phoned Jigsaw24 and they have processed my order (to be delivered tomorrow woo hoo) but not Mark’s. So he is off to order his for less from Apple.
So I am gutted at the extra ?10. It may not be a lot but it’s the principle of the thing. The internet is supposed to make buying things easier and cheaper đŸ™‚
Noozleland: Donna and the bus…
I met a friend from work on Friday. She works in our Dublin office and I haven’t seen her for over 18 months. She was in our London office as she has taken a new job and was coming to meet some people here before going back.
So we are chatting and catching up when she throws in the old so where you in Wellington in December on a bus going towards town?
She was on the same bus but wasn’t sure it was me as we hadn’t seen each other in ages and didn’t expect to see me there.
Weird how small the worl is!
Somebody doesn’t like Quorn
Reading The Guardian on my way home from work I noticed an advert for ‘QuornComplaints.com‘. I eat a lot of Quorn so I thought I’d go and have a look. The advertiser was Center for Science in the Public Interest. Although they don’t seem to be very scientific or impartial.
Quorn states on it’s packaging that it is ?mushroom in origin,? and ?made from a small, unassuming member of the mushroom family.?
Mushrooms are fungus so you would assume Quorn is a fungus of some sort? right? Okay well not the ‘Center for Science in the Public Interest’
They state on their site “Bah! It is made from a fungus found in a British dirt sample, and grown in huge fermentation vats. The fungus that makes up Quorn, Fusarium venenatum, has nothing to do with mushrooms. It is about as closely related to mushrooms as an octopus is related to humans.”
So let’s see then this group of ‘scientists’ don’t think that two types of fungus are similar then? I think I’ll stop reading there and just put them in the too much time and an axe to grind camp of websites then.
Flirting
I’ve been accused of flirting via weblogs today. I mean! Who would do such a thing?
Happy Waitangi Day
Oh and on my recent trip to noozleland I took in a tour of Te Papa and read up all about Waitangi Day. Still no excuse for Mr Pannett to message me at ungodly hours of the morning to wish me a happy one đŸ˜‰

Weird transitory friendships
It’s weird how someone can be such a complete part of your life one day and then suddenly they aren’t. It was brought home by a conversation with a very old friend of mine recently and I’ve been thinking about it. Moping you might say.
Once there was not a time when he was not included in my plans, current and future. Not for any reason like being a partner or anything. Just because he was a very good friend and it just seemed right he was part of my life.
Neither of us seem to have noticed when it was that we suddenly made plans without each other. Maybe it wasn’t sudden. Neither of us seem sure. All we know is that when we were younger we thought we would always be a part of each others lives. Now we have grown up we seem not to be.
I know friendship is transitory but sometimes I forget.
