Upside Down Map – with North/South reversal
What would the tube map look like if South London had all the tube trains instead of north London having the majority of them as it does at the moment?

Can you have industry self-regulation if one of the biggest players isnt following the guidelines?Thats the challenge for online advertising in the face of mounting privacy concerns, and the source is one of the webs biggest ad sellers: Facebook. The social-media giant is running behaviorally targeted ads on its site that dont include the little triangular icons that are the public face of the industrys push to be more transparent about targeting.

A viewable impression in a cluttered environment is unlikely ever to be noticed. Many of today’s pages are a hot mess of links, content, graphics, skins, unrequested video and floating banners. They are an assault on the senses, and one sense in particular — our vision — does some quick filtering to skip through the obstacles and find what we came for. If the cognitive dissonance is too strong, we’re gone. The ads we skipped counted as viewable, but we never noticed them.
I’m amazed that Facebook are only just doing this now – Advertising.com have done it for years as have most other networks.
Here’s how the self-serve tool works. Marketers add a piece of code from Facebook to whichever site pages they want to measure conversions on, be it a checkout page or an email newsletter sign-up page. When users click on a Facebook ad that leads them to that page, Facebook will see that the page loaded and count it as a conversion in the marketer’s Ads Manager dashboard. The real key is that the tool can unlock the full path to conversion from a Facebook ad.
The Facebook Job Board Is Here: Recruiting Will Never Look The Same – Forbes
Facebook announced its long-awaited job board this morning, ushering in a new era of online recruiting and, eventually, what’s likely to be an important new source of revenue for the company. After a yearlong “Social Jobs Partnership” with the U.S. Department of Labor and other government agencies, the company released the Social Jobs Partnership application today, an interactive job board that aggregates 1.7 million openings from recruiting companies already working on the platform, including Work4 Labs, BranchOut, Jobvite, DirectEmployers and Monster.com.
I don’t think it’s much of an issue to be fair – jobvite is scary asking for facebook details (plus it never worked very well) and really most people are friends on facebook with work colleagues. You’d want ot be very careful that apps and boards didn’t publicise your activity and we all know how Facebook treat privacy controls…

So two things strike me as odd about the Amazon sweepstakes.
1. We don’t have Black Friday in the UK as we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving so it’s an odd promotion for the UK.
2. They don’t seem to have engaged anyone about the broadly negative comments about their tax avoidance schemes in the UK.
Such as
Felicitas Aga Are you kidding, Marco? Amazon doesn`t pay tax in uk!!!
Annina Eales i won’t be buying anything from you again unless you start paying tax

When you bring back David Beckham in all his Adonis-like glory—that would be his tighty-whities—I must give credit where it’s due. You previously launched his underwear line with similar black-and-white ads of his chiseled-from-granite physique. Why mess with perfection? You even bought him a Super Bowl spot. Victory dance! This time around, for his expanded collection of bodywear and comfy clothes, he’s slightly more covered up. He’s sporting a porn ‘stache and, in my opinion, some unnecessary fabric. But there’s still a money shot. So thanks, H&M, for this early holiday gift.

“The big negative for Facebook is that we will no longer push for likes or subscribers because we cant reach them all. Why would we invest in extending our Facebook audience size if we have to pay to reach them? Thats crazy.”In many respects it has already blown up on Facebook. Their search for revenue has severely devalued every brands following and completely changed the economics of consumer interaction.”

This site has two goals. It’s an advert for Mapumental, a project of mySociety – a high tech social enterprise that can build cool things like this for you. And it’s a real, functional tool designed to answer a common question – “Where should I live to have a tolerable commute?”
So 35 mins from my house to work is pretty spot on…Â Â WC1E 6JA :: Mapumental.
Since it was founded 90 years ago, the Poppy Factory has produced millions of buttonhole poppies to mark Remembrance Day each November. This year the 35-strong workforce at Richmond upon Thames in west London have made, by hand, 500,000 of the classic stylised flowers – a small but significant proportion of the 45 million produced in total.
Another 11.5 million have been created by homeworkers, and the rest on an automated production line at Aylesford in Kent. As Remembrance Sunday approaches, take a tour of the Poppy Factory – and see how the instantly recognisable buttonholes are put together on a simple wooden block.
