fantastic weekend

Jacs and I enjoyed a really nice weekend with fantastic hospitality. We arrived and were met at Schipol by Steve and then went back for some drinks with LIsa, Phil and Conchita. Went into town for a few more beers and then made some plans for the weekend.

Saturday was spent at Binnen Hof shopping and eating and drinking – a very relaxed day with nothing more strenuous than trying on new clothes and choosing which flowers would go best with Steve’s decor.

Saturday evening we met the usual suspects in Reguliersdwarsstraat starting at Havana and then were joined by Sabine and Alexander, Sabine looked after Jacs and I nearly 10 years ago when we lived in Tilburg and it was nice to carch up with her and hubbie. We hadn’t seen her since February last year so we had a lot of catching up to do, we followed with a meal which was excellent and then more drinks in Montmarte, followed by the Mix bar.

Sunday was a day of rest before the obligatory [and I do mean obligatory] April’s Happy Hour – it is the place to be and be seen in Amsterdam on a Sunday evening between 6-8pm. Drinks are 2 for 1 and it finishes early enough to allow you to make it into work on a Monday without a sore head.

All in all a fantastic time – oh and I am now the proud owner of my first ever football top – of course I went for style – and ended up with an Ajax away top – a lovely grey and cream number 😉 All ready for Satuday’s Sports and shorts!

Amsterdam

I’m jetting off to see the boyf again this weekend – but with a twist I’m going with my best friend so that should be interesting. Jacs was feeling down a few weeks ago so I treated us to some flights out to Amsterdam were we can meet up with some of our old Uni mates, Sabine and Frances [Dippy] and of course Steve and his mates.

Looking forward to a lovely relaxed and fun weekend – here’s to business class free booze in the lounge before we get there and champagne on the flight – we shoud be in the mood by the time we arrive 🙂

I also have to look for a hotel for my mates stag party at the end of november – he’s having the wedding at the icehotel™ in sweden so why not have the stag out of the country as well!

enjoy the silence

went to see depeche mode at Wembley Arena last night and I have to say it was so much better than madonna – perhaps I am a little biased as I was into DM way before her madgesty. fad gadget were support and sounded like a very bad front 242 and ironically it was DM that had supported them back in the early days.

There was a fantastic mix of old school and the newer albums including exciter. Tracklist included The Dead Of Night, The Sweetest Condition, Halo, Walking In My Shoes, Dream On, When The Body Speaks, Waiting For The Night To Fall, Judas, Breathe, Freelove , Enjoy The Silence, I Feel You, In Your Room, It’s No Good and Personal Jesus with an encore of Home, Clean, Black Celebration and Never Let Me Down Again.

I’d forgotten just how good they really are live. Fantastic show!

skinny – moi?

Looks like I’ll need to go out and buy men’s health this month just in case I am skinny – they have a supplement ‘Skinny Man’s Build Up Plan’

closer to music

The Closer to Heaven Soundtrack is now available. the play has now closed so if you missed it this might give you a flavour!

I wonder if I’ll manage to blag a copy?

pub quiz

I am not sure if I am more disturbed by the fact that davo, scally and myself only managed 6 out of 20 or that I knew a dodgy Gypsy Kings remix of Hotel California from the first bar.

Wendy assures me the questions are not normally this hard – and I believe her – I did work with her for long enough 😉

Congratulations to the A List who will no doubt fill you in on the rest of the answers and some of the questions too!

depeche mode

fantastic – I’m off to see DM tonight at Wembley Arena – can’t wait. Only thing that would have made it better is if Ed was there too.

dodgy dealing

Isn’t it amazing eh? If you walked into a shop and picked up a suit with a ?100 price tag and went to the till only for them to tell you they had none left at that price but they can do you the same one for ?230 or the trousers only for ?95 you would wonder what was going on. Yet this is normal for train companies and airlines.

Eurostar have a number of adverts for fares from ?79 at the moment so I logged on to book to Brussels for mid November. Now on the site they have an interwebnet™ offer of travelling first class for ?100 so I thought great – except the booking engine stopped working so I get the number from directory enquiries [helpfully the error message fails to give the booking number] only to be told that the cheapest economy fare available for that weekend is now ?95 as they have no availability for any other offers. So essentially even though they have seats left they are changing the price.

Doesn’t seem fair somehow does it.

Needless to say i am looking at bmi yet again as they seem to be the only people who offer static fares at a low cost with availability [even though they are sometimes delayed].

Look on the brightside though reading 8letters™ is free*

*for a limited time only for a limited yet undisclosed number of viewers. prices and availability may be subject to change and there is bugger all you can do about it

fickle

I have just been accused of being fickle 🙁

me fickle?

I need an online test immediately…

fickle adj 1: marked by erratic changeableness in affections or attachments; “fickle friends”; “a flirt’s volatile affections” [syn: volatile] 2: liable to sudden unpredictable change; “erratic behavior”; “fickle weather”; “mercurial twists of temperament”; “a quicksilver character, cool and willful at one moment, utterly fragile the next” [syn: erratic, mercurial, quicksilver(a)]

It just doesn’t sound like me.
