six feet under

Six Feet Under was fantastic. Andrew and I sat for the first 15 minutes wondering if we should laugh as it was so black and morbid. By the final 10 minutes we had given up all pretence of not laughing.
Excellent for the first of a new series. Let’s hope it keeps the momentum. I loved the whole American Beauty cinematography style. Hated the whole closet homosexual theme though.

Spam SMS text messages move into the same realm as email. O2 have issued a warning of a hoax text being sent currently.

“O2 is aware of instances of a chain sms message being sent to mobile users offering a cash credit if they forward the message to further people.
This message is a hoax and is not an O2 promotion as it claims to be. Should customers receive this message we advise them not to respond and therefore not perpetuate the hoax.
O2 is currently looking in to the origin of the message and would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”

I am wondering if I am the only person in the world that is not watching the England v Argentina. Our offices have joined Cancer Research UK in raising money by letting staff watch in our AV meeting rooms for a donation. My floor is now very sparsely populated with people at the news desk watching and reporting and the odd person not interested at all.

good weather for ducks

I know I am upholding the stereotype that all the Brits talk about is the weather but… It’s June and the weather last night and most of yesterday was more like November 🙁

Buying Online

I’m starting to get a little hacked off now. I ordered 3 books on March 7th and to date I have received only one of them. Blackwell.co.uk mailed me to say they were on back order and due April 22nd, we are now at June 6th 🙁
I ordered a Canon Digital Ixus V2 from Nomatica.com last month and it hasn’t arrived either. They wrote and said it would be despatched May 23rd we are now 2 weeks past that date and I called them today. They say they have no idea when they are coming in stock but it should be around mid June. Grrrr.
See it may be cheaper on the web but it is just not as satisfying as going out and coming home with the goods you purchased.

classic mail today

I managed to wash my Egg card over the weekend – left it in my jeans pocket – stupid me. So I whizzed on over to order a new one an email from them to say they had ordered me a new one. Sweet though as they included the line “It’s good to see you keep your Egg card clean.”

O’Reilly book on blogging

The book isn’t aimed at people who already blog, although many such readers will find useful information such as customizing their blogging software. Picture your coworkers who haven’t discovered blogging yet–they know how to work their computer, they’ve seen a couple of blogs and figure they want to run one themselves. You should be able to give them this book and it’ll educate them about choices of software and hosting, walk them through installing and using their chosen software.
